United States and Belgium face each other this Tuesday (01.07) at 05:00pm at the Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador. The winner will earn themselves a place in the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals. In recent times, Belgians and Americans have not played a main role in the competition. For example, the Europeans did not take part in the last two editions of the tournament, Germany (2006) and South Africa (2010).

Despite finishing the group stage with three victories, Belgium did not show the level of football expected from them, which has raised doubts over whether they will be successful in the knockout stage.

The United States managed to qualify from one the World Cup's most difficult group. With a victory over Ghana and a draw with Portugal, the Americans made the Germans work hard in the last group stage match, before losing 1-0.

The USA's main player, attacking-midfielder Clint Dempsey praised his team's good performance in the group stage and said that it is motivating them for the match later on. “We’re confident. We showed that we’re capable, we fight until the end. We now have to be ready for more than the 90 minutes, we can't make any mistakes as we did against Portugal" mentioned Dempsey, recalling the goal scored by the Portuguese in additional time.

Belgian manager Marc Wilmost adopted a similar discourse. In addition to praising the group’s wish in reaching the quarter-finals, he said to be pleased with the group's performance, despite the criticism. “It's the first time in our history that we get to the round of 16 after scoring nine points. A team that has six goal chances per game is on top. We might be able to improve one or two things, but we’re following our plan”, commented Wilmots.

Fans may use ten bus lines to get to the stadium and leave from different places. In addition, the metro may also be used by those with tickets and who are registered on the system. There is a bicycle parking area near the ground. Taxis will also be available.

If fans choose to use the metro, they should pay attention to when they have to pick up the wrist band that gives access to the transport. It may be picked up on the 2nd floor of the Bela Vista Shopping Centre. Before that, one has to register on the SECOPA-BA website (http://www.secopa.ba.gov.br/), provided by SEDUR (http://www.sedur.ba.gov.br/cadastrometro/) or on Transalvador’s (http://www.copa.transalvador.salvador.ba.gov.br/index.php/en/), as the number of wrist bands is limited.
